The 2013 Ram 1500 received the motor trend truck of the year. Dodges 2013 Ram had many new additions to their technology and to their mechanics added compared to previous years.
Engines-
Dodge made a new world class pentastar 3.6L V-6 available in their select models. This engine can pull 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway which gives them the best in-class fuel ecomony. Also available is the legendary 5.7L Hemi with 395 horsepower. Towing cap for the Hemi is 11,500 pounds. The 4.7L V-8 (my personal favorite) is also available with 310 horsepower; on average gets 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
Cost- The lowest-end new Ram 1500 that is available starts out at $22,600. The most high-end 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie Long Horn with all options tops out at $53,000.
Interior and Exterior- The interior is not much different than the interior of previous years: premium leather bucket seats, dodge uconnect touch stereo and navigation, and all the other high class options. For exterior they have added storage compartment on both sides of the bed and a new air ride suspension which is also used in heavy duty trucks such as semi's and dump trucks. This new suspension will provide much more comfort and smoothness to the ride of the truck as well as improve gas mileage.
Ford F-150-
The Ford F-150 has always been one of america's favorite trucks. The new 2013 F-150 is a great truck, but is it better than the new 2013 Ram 1500?
Engines- Ford offers a 3.7 V-6 thats gets 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway with 365hp. Also avaliable are the 5.0 V-8 and 6.2 V-8. The 5.0 gets 15 mpg city and 21 highway with 365hp. The 6.2 V-8 has 411hp and gets 11 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. Towing capacity of the 5.0L is 9,300 pounds.
Cost- The low-end 2013 ford F-150 starts out a $23,600. The most high-end platnium F-150 tops out at $55,000.
Interior and Exterior- The new 2013 ford did not recieve many new options to the interior or exterior. Standard high-class interior: leather touch screen nav and stereo and the few other options ford offers.
All in all I bought my Ram 1500 for a reason. There better! Towing cap is better, mpg is better, luxury is better and pretty much everything else.
